AERATION

Aeration involves perforating the soil with small holes to allow air, water and nutrients to penetrate the grass roots. This helps the roots grow deeply and produce a stronger, more vigorous lawn.

The main reason for aerating is to alleviate soil compaction. Compacted soils have too many solid particles in a certain volume or space, which prevents proper circulation of air, water and nutrients within the soil. Excess lawn thatch or heavy organic debris buried under the grass surface can also starve the roots from these essential elements.

DETHATCHING

Dethatching.jpg

Thatch is a layer of living and dead stems, roots and crowns that develop between the green vegetation and the soil surface. A thatch layer greater than one inch acts as a barrier to water, nutrients and air reaching the soil and should be removed to ensure a healthy lawn.

OVERSEEDING

Adding premium seed to your lawn after aeration will help the seeds get down deep into the soil and have a better chance to germinate and strengthen your lawn.

During this time it is also an easy way to fill bare spots and improve the density of your lawn.

Seed Instructions & Watering Plan:

  • After the installation of your seed. Please make sure to water twice a day thoroughly for a minimum of 8-15 minutes with any conventional sprinkler. The best time to water is early in the morning or during the evening, avoiding the high peak temperatures during mid-day.

  • Daily watering should be performed for the next 6-9 weeks depending on what season you get your grass seed installed and the volume of rain fall there is. The goal is the keep the soil moist but avoid ponding of the water.

  • The grass should reach at minimum 4 inches before cutting and should be bagged.

Just Lawn Care is not responsible for soil and seed washouts, relocation or ponding due to excessive watering or hard rains.
